Once a diagnosis of NLE is made, what workup should be done? A physical examination should be performed, including cardiac examination and electrocardiogram. Because of reports of involvement of the liver and platelets, liver function tests and a platelet count should also be done. Additional tests or procedures may be done as indicated by physical findings. Mothers of infants with NLE should also be examined, because some will have or develop SCLE, SLE or symptoms of Sjögren’s syndrome. |
