Which tests should be done in an infant with suspected NLE? Serum from both the infant and mother should be assayed for ANA, and specifically for anti–Ro/SS-A, anti–La/SS-B, and anti-U1RNP antibodies. A skin biopsy for routine histology and direct immunofluorescence is also recommended. The biopsy will show histopathologic and direct immunofluorescence changes similar to those seen in SCLE. |
