What is minocycline-induced lupus? This condition has been reported in patients taking minocycline for acne. Most patients are young females who have taken minocycline chronically. The most common symptom is symmetric polyarthralgia, but other findings such as fatigue, fever, elevated liver enzymes, pneumonitis, and anemia have also been reported. Lupus-specific skin eruptions, such as acute cutaneous LE or discoid LE, have not been reported. Nearly all patients will have a positive screening ANA test. Once minocycline is discontinued, most patients have resolution of symptoms. |
