Where is paracoccidioidomycosis endemic? Paracoccidioidomycosis (South American blastomycosis) previously has been thought to be restricted to Latin America, especially Brazil. There have been reports of cases outside this area. The disease is confined to humid tropical and subtropical forests. Paracoccidioides brasiliensis is the causative dimorphic fungus. |
