Does lichen nitidus demonstrate a lichenoid infiltrate upon biopsy? No. While LN appears “lichenoid” clinically, the histopathologic findings are granulomatous in nature. Typically, the epidermis demonstrates central atrophy, while peripheral epidermal rete ridges extend into the papillary dermis in “clawlike” fashion, surrounding a granulomatous aggregate of lymphocytes and histiocytes. |
