Are Lichen planus and systemic lupus erythematosus related? Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been diagnosed in patients with LP, and an “LP-SLE overlap” syndrome has been described. Papulosquamous lesions of SLE, particularly those of acral areas, may resemble LP, but other features of SLE are usually present, allowing for discrimination.
