Describe the use of henna on the skin.

Henna is a natural red-brown pigment obtained from the plant Lawsonia inermis. It is used to prepare ceremonial body paint used in many Middle Eastern and South Asian societies. It is most commonly used by women on the palms and soles, especially for celebrations such as weddings. Henna is now commonly used in a deritualized fashion by Western women.
