How do you treat lichen planus of the vulva? Treatment of lichen planus of the mucosal surfaces, such as the vulvovaginal areas, is very difficult. Potent topical steroids are commonly used, but have mixed results. Other therapies that have been reported include pimecrolimus, tacrolimus, hydroxychloroquine, cyclosporine, and methotrexate.
