This constellation of findings should suggest Langerhans cell histiocytosis (formerly called histiocytosis-X) (Fig. 58-7). The disease can vary from a mild cutaneous-only eruption to a severe, lifethreatening, systemic disease. Traditionally, this disease has been treated by pediatric oncologists.
