In general, it is best to avoid treating a dermatofibroma. When a lesion is distressing in appearance, painful, or frequently traumatized, simple excision may be indicated. Several authors have reported successful treatment with cryotherapy. The anticipated benefit of treatment should be weighed against the predictable cosmetic outcome of the therapeutic modality.
