What are the skin manifestations of hyperthyroidism? They are the opposite of hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroid skin is moist, warm, smooth, and erythematous. The nails may separate from the nailbed (onycholysis). The skin may be pruritic. Because itchy skin may occur with either high or low thyroid hormone, patients with itchy skin of unknown cause should have thyroid disease excluded. |
