Is necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum common in patients with diabetes?

No. It occurs in 0.3% of patients with diabetes and may occur in both insulin-dependent and insulin-resistant diabetic patients. It is most frequently seen in adults but has rarely been reported in children with insulin dependent diabetes.
