What are the two major types of parapsoriasis? Why is it important to differentiate between them? Parapsoriasis is a term often used to describe slowly evolving, asymptomatic, scaly plaques, often found on the trunk and proximal extremities. Parapsoriasis is divided into small plaque (1- to 5-cm diameter) and large plaque (5- to 15-cm diameter) forms. The prognosis of the two types differs, and approximately 10% of cases of large-plaque parapsoriasis eventuate in T-cell lymphoma. Parapsoriasis is resistant to most topical treatments but often responds to phototherapy. |
