What are some nonspecific skin lesions seen in patients with leukemia? Nonspecific skin lesions are quite common in patients with all types of leukemia and preleukemia. The most common skin findings are petechiae, purpura, pruritus, papular eruptions, vasculitis, urticaria, herpes zoster, and erythroderma. Approximately 5% to 10% of patients with pyoderma gangrenosum have or will develop leukemia, usually of the myelocytic type. Gingival hyperplasia is a common association with acute myelomonocytic leukemia (FAB subtypes M4 and M5) (Fig. 46-8B). |
