Only low-potency steroids should be used in children under age 1. Once-daily application limited to areas of active inflammation after bathing is often sufficient, and the product should not be used more than twice daily. The treatment regimen should include skin lubrication to prevent rapid evaporation and transepidermal water loss. Oral antihistamines are often necessary for pruritus.
