Diagnosis of pre-malignant skin lesions

Diagnosis is generally made on clinical examination. Differential diagnosis for AK may include superficial basal cell carcinoma (BCC), Bowen’s disease, SCC and amelanotic melanoma. If there is any clinical doubt, a punch biopsy will be performed to confirm diagnosis (de Berker et al., 2007).
