Who should get the herpes zoster vaccine?

A live attenuated zoster vaccine received FDA approval in 2006 and is recommended for individuals age 60 years or older who are not significantly immunosuppressed. The vaccine substantially reduces the risk for herpes zoster and the development of postherpetic neuralgia.
