What is actinic prurigo?Actinic prurigo has historically been considered to be a variant of PMLE and has even been called hereditary PMLE of Native Americans. In recent years, however, most references have used the term actinic prurigo. In this population, the family history is usually positive, although sporadic cases do occur. Actinic prurigo may also occur in other ethnic groups (Fig. 17-6). Patients are more likely to demonstrate involvement of the lips (cheilitis).
