Poly-L-lactic Acid Poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) is a sterile synthetic polymer that is biodegradable and biocompatible. Once injected into the deep dermis, the PLA microparticles stimulate the formation of collagen. It has been approved in Europe since 1999 for soft tissue augmentation and is currently approved in the United States for HIV-associated lipoatrophy. |
