Is there a future in geriatric dermatology? One hundred years ago, only 2% of the U.S. population was over 65 years old. By 1980, this percentage was 11%, and, by the year 2030, it will be 20%. Given the high incidence of significant dermatologic diseases in the elderly, it is clear that all health care providers need to familiarize themselves with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of skin diseases seen in this population. |
