Autologous Autologous collagen is derived from the patient’s own skin. The skin is usually removed during surgery that involves tissue excision, such as abdominoplasty. The collagen is processed in a laboratory and kept frozen until ready for injection, which occurs within 48 h of harvesting [7]. Because the collagen is autologous, no allergy test is required [4, 8]. |
