Chronic urticaria

In some instances, chronic urticaria is due to autoimmune disease and may be related to other autoimmune conditions such as thyroid or coeliac disease. In these cases autoantibodies will be found. In other cases there are no circulating autoantibodies and it is a more difficult condition to determine a cause for, often impossible. This type of urticaria is known as chronic idiopathic urticaria.
